Hi dears,
How are you doing? I hope April is wrapping up on a beautiful note for you.
Today, I want to share a small story that happened on Resurrection Sunday. It was one of those moments that didn’t feel like much until I paused to think about it later. The church was packed, thanks to the Easter celebration.
The choir was singing the final song, a new one we were just getting familiar with, and the atmosphere was joyful and full. Then, suddenly, there was a glitch.
The fire alarm lights started flashing, and the microphones went out. One moment, we were singing along, and the next, we were all standing there, blinking under pulsing lights, trying to follow a song we barely knew without any sound system to guide us.
It was disorienting. But no one panicked. No one ran. We didn’t even shuffle. We just stood there, waiting, some humming the chorus quietly, some looking around, all of us unsure but oddly calm.
Within a few minutes, everything was sorted. The pastor closed the service shortly after the glitch was fixed. As I stepped outside, I noticed the fire department had arrived. From what I gathered, it was likely an electrical issue, not a fire, not a real emergency. Just a momentary glitch in the system.
But that moment has stayed with me. Because in situations like that, our bodies usually react: fight, flight, or freeze. But we didn’t fight. We didn’t flee. And we didn’t freeze, either. We stayed grounded. Maybe it was trust. Maybe it was peace. Maybe it was just knowing we were in a sacred space, surrounded by people, and, more than anything, covered by grace.
It made me think: life has its glitches, its technical malfunctions, its unexpected flashing lights. And we all carry the instinct to either run, resist, or shut down. But sometimes, the invitation is just to stay still. To breathe. To stand together. To ride out the confusion with calm.
Not every disruption is a disaster. Not every flashing light means danger. Sometimes, it’s just a moment - a test of our ability to be present and to trust.
So wherever you are right now, whether you’re fighting through something, thinking of fleeing, or feeling frozen, I hope you know that you can also stand. You can wait. You can trust that God is present in the confusion and that not every flashing light means danger.
Sometimes, it’s just a glitch. And peace is still possible.

Your friend,
Faith, for the Royal Rubies
Stillness is a virtue that's needed especially in Nigeria. May the Lord grant this to us.
Lesson for me;
“be still and know that I am God.”
If we will just ‘be still’, we wouldn’t have need to fight, fly or flee.
